Home brewery

During my training as a beer connoisseur (more on that later) we also had to master the brewing process. For this we went to a fellow student, who had been brewing beer at home for some time in an old washing machine. Really!!!
It took an entire afternoon to brew "our" beer, and then it went into the fermentation tanks to mature. After a while we went back to the home brewery to bottle the beer, so we could take some bottles home ourselves.

The whole process appealed to me and so I bought myself a small hobby brewing installation of 25 liters. After a few nice beers, and many tasting evenings with a friend, who was also interested in brewing, we decided to purchase a slightly larger installation.

25 litres is a bit too little to enjoy with two, so we went for something larger, an installation of 1HL (100 liters). This installation we baught second hand, but for the same price we had all the kettles twice, so we can brew 2HL each time with ease.
We already had two beers that we had brewed, but they weren't our own creation, so we started looking for recipes for a triple and a brown beer. And yes, after a few test brews, and again many (and enjoyable) tasting sessions, our beer was born! Two beers were born, and when tasted by friends, they received high praise, so we went for it.
With our beer club of which we were a part, and which my friend was actually the driving force behind, we went to beer festivals with our beers, and they were well received. If you're interested in it, we have a site also (http://www.denbierberg.be). Sorry it's in Dutch, but a nice translator can help you a lot! ;-)
Of course 1HL is also a bit small if you also want to offer your beers in bars and shops, so we went looking for a brewer who wanted to brew our recipe on a slightly larger scale.
And so we ended up at a friendly brewer, where our beer is now brewed several times a year, each time with a brew of 15HL. And with that you can come out!
The two beers we produce now? I'll introduce it in a separate post.
