If you want to learn how strong typhoon Odette was. Just imagine that even a concrete house was destroyed. It's hard to believe how it happened but it really was. One of the houses that got destroyed is ours. It wasn't repaired immediately because together with the devastation was the shortage of food, water, and daily necessity. Yes, we received help from random people, in fact, even the @hiveph community too. It's the amount that can't be measured because I am always grateful for it. It's not about how big or how small but it's about the help that we received, thank you, guys.
Just this week my sister who is working abroad sent money to repair the house. She sent money from her own pocket and with the help of her friends there. I'm not sure if it will be enough but we are still thankful that there's finally hope to build the house. The kitchen was totally damaged that you can't see a single wall standing. Of course, the ceiling or the roof can't be found and it's hard to cook when it rains. Also, the room next to the kitchen is uncovered so that the coldness of the weather every evening can get inside. We think it's fine for now since we don't have enough money to repair our house at once. What's more important is to establish a roof so there will be no problem with cooking even if it rains.
I'm not a carpenter or even my other siblings. We hired one carpenter and two of his laborers. We thought of hiring a couple of people to finish it faster. I and my two nephews who are living in our house are helping too. We want to finish it as soon as possible because we are afraid of another typhoon coming after monitoring the weather updates from the government reports. Also, rainy days will be experienced in the days to come.
For now, we finished the 4 house poles. We already spent quite a lot of money but I hope the budget will still be enough to complete the kitchen. Maybe if not complete but at least the roof will be finished. That's very important so it will not be bothersome when cooking and finally, we can call the house a home. It's not that I asked too much even though I only contributed a small amount of money thanks to hive. A house without a kitchen where the family can't eat together will not be called a home. Don't misunderstand me but that's my opinion of what I thought is a home.
