My Hive Highlight of 2021

A Community Challenge was posted the other day for Hive users. The Challenge is to write about your best memory of Hive for 2021. When shown the post, I was like? I have to pick just one? I have so many this year, but I was told to narrow it down to only one.

It was hard to do. I had to really think back over the last year. Try to remember things that happened a year ago when I do not remember what I did two seconds ago most times.

So it took me a while to come up with what really was my one Hive Highlight of 2021.

When the answer popped into my head, I laughed and was like, Duh!

It was the beginning of August 2021. My husband told me he would be gone for a long weekend camping. That same day I was talking with @Brisby and had said that I wished she could come for a visit. Now would be a perfect time.

She came back with, Okay. I will be there.

Now, if she lived down the street or even the next state over, I still would have been blown away that she wanted to spend some time with me. The problem was she lives a fifteen-hour drive away.

We both looked at flights to see if any deals were going on. The cheapest flight I found was 888.89 USD. This was not even in the realm of possibilities.

Brisby looked to see if she could get off work that Friday or Monday and found out that it was impossible. I felt horrible and told her that it was okay if we did it another time.

Brisby would not hear of it. We have known each other for over four years, and it was time we finally met.

I was so worried about her driving that long alone. I did not sleep much the night before she got here. I kept waiting for the phone to ring, telling me something was wrong.

What I didn't know then but now do is she also drives the speed limit...

What is wrong with that, you might be wondering? Nothing other than when she would tell me where she was, I would calculate in my head how much more time there was before she pulled in my driveway safe and sound.

When next I would hear from her and find out where she was, I would think there had to be a ton of traffic if that is only how far she went. Most of Saturday early morning was waiting for Brisby to pull in the driveway only to find out she was still 4, 5, 6 hours away. My worry gene was in overdrive.

Brisby finally pulled in my driveway a little after noonish on Saturday. We had less than 24 hours to be in the same place at the same time, finally after four years.

Those 24 hours flew by. As soon as Brisby walked in the door, I grabbed my phone to order us some food. I think Brisby did most of the ordering because I had no idea what I was doing on the food phone App.

Now that I knew she was safe and sound, we just started talking and laughing and didn't stop. Below is a video of how the 24 hours were spent except when I made Brisby sleep.

It is a weekend I will never forget.

@Brisby is as beautiful in person as she is online. There were no awkward moments to be had. I still can not believe my good fortune to have met Brisaby online and now in person. I can not imagine my life without her in it.

And That, my friends, is my 2021 Hive Highlight. Meeting Brisby in person.

What is yours?
