Trying to blog your way up the Hive ecosystem is a gruelling challenge. Your first posts won't get much attention. That is simply because few people are going too even see them in the feed, let alone open the post and read it. You can get lucky with a fat upvote once or twice but even that does not guarantee building your audience that is going to read and reward on a regular basis. Most new accounts do not get the fast start and have to build gradually which feels painfully slow. Many decent posters do not make it.
There is a handful of projects trying to address the issue. I am neither going to review them nor present a new one. I am just offering to show you an oportunity that exists in the Archon community neighborhood.
Archon is a generic tribe that has its own token distributed both to the money-investors (holders of miners and stakers of the Archon coin who upvote posts) and time-investors (content creators who tag their posts with #archon - or other tribe tags). You may want to refer to a recent post that contemplates whether Hive needs as many generic tribes as it currently has. I think it is fine as long as the tribes have agendas that can position them.
Hallmark of Archon game would be automation. Starting from @dhedge-drips fund dripping (annoyingly frequent/small) payments in various tokens, through providing tools for communities (proposal system for governance or comment rewarding bot), all the way to automated list of top posts. I am pretty sure you would love to see your post on the board, wouldn't you?
The bad news - this particular list is rather static and populated by global Hive stars. The good news - since the curation changes in HF25 (hardfork that happened late June) the author variation seemed to improve. I myself vote a lot more manually and while I appreciate the performance of the top authors, I tend to skip the heart icon for them. I am not a firm believer in showing up every day as you might not have anything to say at times. Those who do (at the cost of being mildly repetetive) already seem to do well (which is fair). Consumers should upvote what they like. I am long-term invested so I prefer looking around for new stuff.
The list does show up every day and I never upvote it (unless the hive.vote bot does that for me). The predictability of it is pushing it towards the low-content area for me. Hell, most of the Hive rewards actually come from HSBI which I dislike as it promotes low-content posting. I can tolerate it - until it hits the zero-content line where I tend to counterbalance the too-much-automation-risks. Still, I have hard time promoting such schemes.
Recently, another list has been launched. While it is still required to get an upvote from a couple of big Archon holders to make it to the main list, the new addition is pretty much open door. It is a list of posts related to #dCity game. Making the board entitles you to get HSBI and I have even had a weird experience already. Someone thanked for their content being rewarded. I did see the posts but could not see any content, just letters. So, I partly feel guilty for promoting the initiative but I am certainly not going to fight it the way I fight the actual zero-content voting-circle operations. Instead I bet on competition bringing more quality. The actual jackpot would be kickstarting a few interesting authors for different niches anyway.
I mean, does it make any sense to post about a game you have never heard of? Well, it could. It does not have to be a strategy guide from a seasoned player - a fresh eye look from outsider would actually be more pleasing to the eye for me. Remember to use #dcity tag to be found and #archon tag to pick up a decent reward if you do well - both @ecoinstant and I can upvote around 1 Hive worth of ARCHON token. Most importantly, a good post is going to build your name around Archon and attract more eyes to your best works.
