LeoGlossary: Slippage

The difference between the expected price of a trade and the one it was executed at. This can often happen in fast moving markets or ones with unexpected turns. Volatility in the markets can often make buy and sell orders move greatly.

Limit orders can help minimize slippage although it increases the risk the trade will not go through.
