Selections and references on AI and Blockchain, further reading required

"As with the Internet in the 1990s, how fast market participants integrate this “trust machine” into the financing and operation of infrastructure will affect their competitiveness for years to come." https://www.iisd.org/system/files/publications/tokenization-infrastructure-blockchain-solution.pdf

"In this paper, we propose a Blockchain-enabled Intelligent IoT Architecture with Artificial Intelligence that provides an efficient way of converging blockchain and AI for IoT with current state-of-the-art techniques and applications." https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0167739X19316474

"Blockchain-based cryptocurrencies have received extensive attention recently. Massive data has been stored on permission-less blockchains. The analysis of massive blockchain data can bring huge business values. However, the absence of well-processed up-to-date blockchain datasets impedes big data analytics of blockchain data. To fill this gap, we collect and process the up-to-date on-chain data from Ethereum, which is one of the most popular permission-less blockchains. We name such well-processed Ethereum data as XBlock-ETH, which consists of transactions, smart contracts, and cryptocurrencies (i.e., tokens). However, it is non-trivial to partition and categorize the collected raw Ethereum data to the well-processed datasets since the whole processing procedure requires sophisticated knowledge on software engineering as well as big data analytics. Moreover, we also present basic statistics and exploration for each of the well-processed datasets. Furthermore, we also outline the possible research opportunities based on XBlock-ETH, with the data and code released online."

"Extracting and Exploring Blockchain Data from Ethereum.
It consists of data and sample codes of Ethereum blockchain.
The data is the same as Etherscan.io, updated to 12,000,000 blocks now."

"We believe that a key to successfully enable Internet of Things for the industrial automation applications lies in bringing down the OPC-UA into low end resource-limited devices, such as sensors" https://www.researchgate.net/publication/261161659_Scalability_of_OPC-UA_down_to_the_chip_level_enables_Internet_of_Things

"While there is much hype, little research has been conducted that informs companies about how to profitably integrate the IoT with strategic or operational processes. This paper views the IoT through the lens of predictive maintenance -- the use of real-time data and predictive analytics algorithms to dynamically manage preventive maintenance policies. These are being used by numerous manufacturing organizations to transition from product-oriented to service-oriented business models." https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10796-017-9749-z

"The banking and financial-services industry has taken notice of blockchain technology’s many advantages. This special issue explores its unlikely origins, tremendous impact, implementation challenges, and enormous potential. The web extra at features R3’s Tim Swanson as he interviews global experts on blockchain technology for finance." https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/8048631

"Today’s trade is still based on paper documents and antiquated processes.
IOTA is set to radically transform international trade and supply chains,
improving visibility, control and reducing overheads."
https://tradedemo.iota.org/#/

"This demo was developed to illustrate how easily such visibility could be obtained by using the IOTA Tangle and the 2nd Layer Masked Authenticated Messaging (MAM) protocol, creating an environment where 1) different actors can have different access privileges (i.e. read/write); and 2) all events, documents, and data are stored securely onto the IOTA ledger with highest level of integrity and insured authenticity." https://blog.iota.org/applying-iota-in-global-trade-and-supply-chains-mission-possible-32c659d69547/

"According to Forrester Consulting, organizations that scale AI are 7x more likely to
be the fastest-growing businesses in their industry.2 However, to successfully scale AI throughout your organization, data complexity, talent scarcity and a lack of trust in AI systems
must be overcome." https://www.ibm.com/downloads/cas/Z7B7DVG6

Convergence of Blockchain, IoT, and AI
https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fbloc.2020.522600/full

"Blockchain technology has the ability to automate payment in cryptocurrency and to provide access to a shared ledger of data, transactions, and logs in a decentralized, secure, and trusted manner. Also with smart contracts, blockchain has the ability to govern interactions among participants with no intermediary or a trusted third party. AI, on the other hand, offers intelligence and decision-making capabilities for machines similar to humans. " https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=8598784

"A theoretical concept developed in 1994, the materialisation of contracts capable of enforcing
themselves, is now facilitated by blockchain technologies. The ability of smart contracts to alter the way in which many traditional processes are performed is potentially immense. However, standardisation and wider adoption of the blockchain is needed to turn this potential into reality." https://www.bbva.com/wp-content/uploads/en/2016/11/Digital_Economy_Outlook_Oct15_Cap1.pdf

"A smart contract is an automatable and enforceable agreement. Automatable by computer, although some parts may require human input and control. Enforceable either by legal enforcement of rights and obligations or via tamper-proof execution of computer code." — Smart Contract Templates: foundations, design landscape and research directions, C.D.Clack, V.A.Bakshi and L.Braine. 2016.
