Q07 — Do You Write For Other Blockchain-based Platforms? If Yes, Can You Try To Rank Them Based On The ROI On Each Of Them?

As a matter of fact, I have never had a blog at any platform before Steemit. I’ve started from a basic curiosity, and discover a new world…

I've always considered centralized social platforms disgusting. Opened an account at Facebook, but never sent one letter. They looked awful to me long before that has become obvious. Then Steemit came. First practical use of blockchain for protection of free speech. And I had to test it…

Since then, I’ve been living out of this platform. No other platform comes even close. It may not be perfect, but it has an established cryptocurrency, and an excellent community that is getting better by the day. It is impressive how rewarding mechanism efficiently eliminates fools from the platform. Therefore, No1 goes to…

1. Steemit!

The most similar to our platform is its sports oriented blockchain offshoot named Scorum. It is specialized, and its currency still does not have much value, but it has an enormous potential. Platform is still in construction, and is planned to have media (or blogging) department, blockchain betting exchange (test phase) and centralized betting platform for the hard core bettors with suicidal tendencies ;) Unfortunately, the developing team is not up to the task, since everything goes very slow and without commitment of the team to some timeline. And I don’t think they are really aware of the full potential of this idea. Despite everything, second place goes to…

2. Scorum

I’ve tried Sola (their journey is over), Minds, decentralized version of FB where you still can be censored… yes they have Content Policy with a procedure to follow, but that does mean nothing if the (deep) state services apply pressure. At least, there you have Abby Martin…

3. Minds

Out of those three, only Steemit realistically allows blogger to make a living. All the rest are just experiments with very uncertain destiny. Like, for example, Peepeth — An Irrelevant Blockchain Twitter. Making a decentralized social media platform is, in truth, very hard, complicated and demanding task. One more reason to appreciate work Daniel Larimer has done at Steemit, and see what he can done with EOS blockchain.

The adventure continues. I don’t doubt there will be more decentralized social platforms, and I intend to compile a specification of an ideal platform in my opinion. Then we will see if we have capable programmers among us ;)
