Previously on Freddy The Flea:

Thanks to Fria’s quick thinking and a trick up her sleeve, she managed to get Freddy to jump onto the mouse. They now had a new host to feed on, and both quickly tucked in to fill their bellies. Freddy also realized that he’d underestimated Fria and now had a newfound respect for this strange Flea.

Part 5:

Fria and Freddy were rolling on their backs, gleefully laughing away. Their bellies were full, and Freddy looked over as Fria attempted another silly joke. Her face was glistening like gold from the sweet ‘nectar’, as time and again, they plunged their teeth right back into the mouse, until they just couldn’t anymore.

“Hold on, I’ve got a good one,” Fria said.

“What insect runs away from everything? A flee!”

The two of them burst out into another laughing fit. Freddy, not to be outdone, started another joke in-between his attempts not to laugh.

“How… do you start… an insect race? One, two, flea, go! Bwahaahaahaa.”

The two of them just couldn’t contain themselves as they laughed yet again. Finally, they had run out of jokes and laughs. Fria looked over at Freddy, seeing a huge grin across his face.

“Freddy, it’s time for us to explore.”

“Explore?”

“Yes, explore Freddy The Flea. Haven’t you heard about exploring?”

“Sure, I have, but isn’t it dangerous?”

“You’re worried about danger?” Fria jokingly asked. “You were almost killed by Flea-Spray, walked through the grass without a host, and managed to jump onto a mouse.”

“I guess that’s true, but you tricked me into jumping onto the mouse.”

The two of them had a bit of a giggle.

“I guess you’re right, Fria. We’ve come this far.”

Fria got all excited. She loved seeing new things and she has never been on a mouse before. A rat, yes, but not a mouse. It was on the rat that she’d come across the Fleas that were still quite ‘wild’.

Fria’s excitement brought a smile to Freddy’s face. He’d never met someone who seemed excited about things the way Fria was. All the Flea’s he knew, were, well, quite boring.

“Okay, if we’ve been rocking back and forth, with intervals of… hmmm” -Fria calculated- “I think we’re on the mouse’s upper, back leg. I’m going to climb up on this hair to get a better look.”

Before Freddy could say a word, Fria was climbing up and soon disappeared as the hairs kept waving and swooshing about.

“Fria!” Freddy called out. He was still looking up to where he last saw her.

Fria!” Freddy called louder this time, but there was still no response.

“No, no, no,” he mumbled and started making his way up the hair Fria just climbed upon.

Freddy hadn’t made it up halfway when a voice behind him startled him. He got such a fright, he let go of the hair and fell flat on his back.

The next moment Fria stood over him.

“Are you okay?”

“Uhm, yes, I think so.”

“Sorry I gave you a fright up there.”

“It’s okay, I’m fine,” Freddy said begrudgingly.

He got up and dusted himself off, while Fria looked at him quizzically.

“Do you have anxiety?” Fria asked in a soft tone.

“What? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Well, anxiety could be an unreasonable feeling of fear-“ Freddy interjected.

“I know, I’ve heard about anxiety. It’s just not something Fleas believe is real, and neither do I,” Freddy said, shrugging off the thought.

Fria decided to let it be and changed the subject.

“When I went up there, I saw we are indeed on the mouse’s leg, just not the back though.”

“Okay”

“That means we’re going to have to move carefully until we reach the top of the mouse’s head. Those back paws and gnawing teeth reach almost anywhere.”

“What?” Freddy took a big gulp, causing Fria to frown slightly.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be okay. It’s not a long way to go and from there, you can see the world.”

Freddy seemed to hesitate for a moment, but soon he agreed, and the pair started making their way towards the mouse’s head. Fria grabbed Freddy’s hand and told him to just follow in her footsteps until they were out of harm’s way.
