Der letzte Halt auf der Rückfahrt unserer Tour durch Mittelhessen war in der Nibelungenstadt Alzey. Die Stadt gehört zum Landkreis Alzey-Worms in Rheinhessen im Südosten von Rheinland-Pfalz.
The last stop on the return trip of our tour through Central Hesse was in the Nibelungen city of Alzey. The city belongs to the district of Alzey-Worms in Rheinhessen in southeastern Rhineland-Palatinate.
Die Volkerstadt
The Volker town
Die Stadt wird im Volksmund Volkerstadt genannt, weil die Stadt im Nibelungenlied von der Sagengestalt Volker von Alzey erwähnt wird. Volker von Alzey war in der Nibelungensage ein Spielmann, Ritter und Held am Hof der Burgunder in Worms. Auf dem Alzeyer Rossmarkt steht das Bronzepferd Max, das Pferd des Volker von Alzey. Auf dem Grund des Brunnens soll der Sage nach der Schatz der Nibelungen vergraben sein.
The town is popularly called Volkerstadt because the town is mentioned in the Nibelungenlied by the legendary figure Volker von Alzey In the Nibelungen saga, Volker von Alzey was a minstrel, knight and hero at the court of the Burgundians in Worms. On the Alzey Rossmarkt stands the bronze horse Max, the horse of Volker von Alzey. According to legend, the treasure of the Nibelungen is buried at the bottom of the well.

Es wird angenommen, dass das heutige Schloss um 1125 oder nach 1214 entweder von den staufischen oder pfälzischen Grafen als Burg erbaut wurde. Ein genauer Nachweis ist nicht möglich. Sie wird 1278 erstmals erwähnt und wurde im 14. Jahrhundert von den Pfalzgrafen als Residenz umgebaut. Im Jahr 1689, während des Pfälzischen Erbfolgekrieges, wurde die Burg zerstört. Der Wiederaufbau fand in den Jahren 1901 bis 1903 statt. Heute beherbergt das Schloss ein Mädcheninternat und das Amtsgericht. Seit dem Jahr 2000 findet im Schlosshof jährlich das viertägige Open-Air-Festival Da Capo! statt, eine Veranstaltung mit Comedy, Popmusik und klassischen Aufführungen.
It is assumed that the current castle was built around 1125 or after 1214 either by the Staufer or Palatine counts as a castle. It is not possible to prove it exactly. It was first mentioned in 1278 and was rebuilt as a residence by the Palatine counts in the 14th century. In 1689, during the Palatinate War of Success, the castle was destroyed. Die Altstadt, unweit des Schlosses, mit ihren schönen Fachwerkhäusern und dem Rossmarktbrunnen, ist das pulsierende Zentrum der Stadt. Hier gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in kleineren und größeren Geschäften und Restaurants für kulinarische Genüsse.
The old town, not far from the castle, with its beautiful half-timbered houses and the Rossmarkt fountain, is the vibrant center of the city. Here there are shopping opportunities in smaller and larger stores and restaurants for culinary enjoyment.

... ist ein gebührenfreier Stellplatz für 6 Wohnmobile, der ganzjährig genutzt werden kann. Der Platz ist geschottert und weitgehend eben und befindet sich zentrumsnah auf einem Parkplatz mit separatem Bereich für Wohnmobile. Die Versorgung mit Frischwasser und Strom sowie die Entsorgung der chemischen Toilette und des Grauwassers sind kostenpflichtig. Die Entsorgung des Grauwassers ist nur mit einem Schlauch möglich. Für die Zufahrt folgen Sie bitte der Beschilderung, da die Zufahrt nur von hinten über die Jean-Braun-Straße möglich ist. Es gibt ausgewiesene Rad- und Wanderwege.
... is a free pitch for 6 motorhomes that can be used all year round. The site is gravelled and largely level and is located close to the center on a parking lot with a separate area for motorhomes. The supply of fresh water and electricity as well as the disposal of the chemical toilet and gray water are chargeable. The disposal of grey water is only possible with a hose. For access please follow the signs, as access is only possible from the rear via Jean-Braun-Street. There are designated biking and hiking trails.
