Auf unserer Spontantour nach Prag haben wir einen Zwischenstopp in der Stadt Pilsen eingelegt. Der Wohnmobilstellplatz, der sich auf einem Campingplatz befindet, gefiel uns sehr gut, sodass wir dort zwei Nächte verbrachten.

On our spontaneous tour to Prague, we made a stop in the city of Pilsen. The RV park, which is located on a campground, we liked very much, so we spent two nights there.

Die westböhmische Metropole Pilsen ist die viertgrößte Stadt der Tschechischen Republik. Die Stadt wurde 1295 im Auftrag des böhmischen Königs Wenzel II. als neue Stadt gegründet. Aufgrund ihrer geografischen Lage an der Handelsstraße (Goldene Straße) zwischen Nürnberg und Prag entwickelte sie sich zu einem politischen und wirtschaftlichen Mittelpunkt.

The West Bohemian metropolis of Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic. The city was founded as a new town in 1295 by order of the Bohemian King Wenceslas II. Due to its geographical location on the trade route (Golden Road) between Nuremberg and Prague, it developed into a political and economic center.

Der größte Teil der Altstadt ist in den weichen Untergrund untertunnelt. Es soll 20 km an Tunneln geben, die die Häuser miteinander verbinden. Einige der Tunnel waren mehrere Stockwerke tief. In den Tunneln wurden Lebensmittel gelagert und unzählige Brunnen versorgten die Stadt mit Wasser. In Kriegszeiten dienten die Tunnel als Verstecke für Hab und Gut und boten Schutz. Heute sind etwa 800 Meter für die Besucher der Stadt zugänglich.

Most of the old town is tunneled in the soft underground. There are said to be 20 km of tunnels that connected the houses. Some of the tunnels were several stories deep. The tunnels were used to store food and countless wells supplied the city with water. In times of war, the tunnels served as hiding places for belongings and offered protection. Today, about 800 meters are open to visitors of the city.

Der Wohnmobilstellplatz ... / The RV park ...

... ist ein Campingplatz außerhalb von Pilsen und liegt am Waldrand an einem See. Die Nutzung für Wohnmobile und Wohnwagen ist vom 1.4. bis 30.10. möglich. Außerhalb dieser Zeiten nur nach vorheriger Absprache mit dem Betreiber möglich. Die Ver- und Entsorgung von Frisch- und Grauwasser sowie die chemische Toilette sind in der Stellplatzgebühr von ca. 20 Euro/2 Erwachsene enthalten. Hund, Dusche und Strom werden separat berechnet. WLan kann kostenlos genutzt werden. Eine Reservierung ist möglich und sollte bei längeren Aufenthalten genutzt werden. Die Bezahlung erfolgt bei der Ankunft an den Betreiber in tschechischen Kronen oder in Euro, nur Barzahlung möglich. Auf dem Platz befindet sich ein Restaurant, das bis 23 Uhr geöffnet ist. Mit Bus und Straßenbahn erreicht man das Stadtzentrum in etwa 15 Minuten. Es gibt ausgewiesene Rad- und Wanderwege.

... is a campsite outside Pilsen and is located on the edge of the forest by a lake. The use for campers and caravans is possible from 1.4 to 30.10. Outside these times only possible by prior arrangement with the operator. The supply and disposal of fresh water and gray water as well as the chemical toilet are included in the pitch fee of about 20 euros/2 adults. Dog, shower and electricity are charged separately. WLan can be used free of charge. Reservation is possible and should be used for longer stays. Payment is made on arrival to the operator in Czech crowns or in euros, only cash payment possible. There is a restaurant on the square, which is open until 11 pm. By bus and streetcar you can reach the city center in about 15 minutes. There are designated cycling and hiking trails.
