Hello to the EcoTrain community!

I came across @eco-alex his post about ecovillages and decided to follow this community as it feels like I can learn a lot from the members. I bumped on the compilation post from the previous question of the week when I decided I would see if I could join the next one. So here I am. I think it's nice to introduce myself a bit, although I'm not one to share private details or pictures of myself (sorry, hope it's not mandatory). First I wish to find my way around the platform and connect with like-minded people and see how I fit in. So far my experience on the platform is great, I've had some nice people pointing out some tips that were very helpful for a newbie like me.

For a few years, I've become more and more interested in the possibility of living off-grid one day and have my own garden with fruit and veggies. It's quite funny that I have this wish as I never noticed having green fingers (lol). It's more the fact that I wish to be free from the madness in the normal world and live a peaceful life with some like-minded people. I have no idea if this will ever be a reality, but I have to admit that sitting at home during these months has definitely opened up my eyes and making me realize that it's possible if I'm willing to work towards it. It's just that at this point, I still don't know exactly what I want, my mind goes from A to Z in 10 seconds sometimes. Let me first figure that out, until then, I hope to connect with people that share the same interests and dreams so I can eventually have a clear vision of mine as well. I believe that those people that inspire you can help you clear up the mind to see where you're supposed to go yourself as well.

Anyway, enough about that, I hope the introduction is enough for now. Let's get to the reason I started writing this post: The EcoTrain Question of the week...click.

Q. Is it right for governments to lie to us to control our behavior or prevent panic?

It's quite a tough cookie to answer if you ask me, I've noticed that even close friends aren't really open to discuss this topic when it gets a bit too far away from what mainstream media tells us. I have noticed many of the people I know turn out not to be open to thoughts that aren't in line with the masses. Maybe this is also part of why I'm cautious with sharing personal information. In my experience, many people will not agree or start an endless discussion that leads to nowhere instead of one that is considered to be a healthy discussion where you may end up agreeing to disagree. I feel that I've wasted too much time on those unhealthy ones and rather focus on a healthy discussion as I know that we can't all agree on everything but we can at least treat each other with respect while discussing something.

So here are my (maybe cautious) two cents regarding this topic: No, it's not ok for governments to lie to us to control our behavior, but at the same time I feel that this is something that has slipped in many many years ago and will probably not change. I think the governments have their own agendas and I feel these are mostly not in favor of the people that are somewhat considered to be aware/awake or whatever you want to call it.

How can one decide what he/she wants to do if being presented two options (take vaccinations as an example) if one isn't informed correctly about what these vaccinations contain or the side effects? And no, I'm not anti vaccines, but I'm most certainly not pro vaccines either although I've had all my vaccinations as a child. I refer to this example because in my life, only during the past few years I've become aware of the ingredients and the anti-vaccination movement, which at first, sounded quite weird (because it's normal to vaccinate and why wouldn't you was my opinion at the time). Now I think that those questioning something that is considered to do normal deserve credits for not being just a good citizen by doing as told but just weighing off the options presented.

Honestly, I have to admit that I sometimes have the feeling that this pandemic is being used to control us even more and god knows what else. I have my doubts about anything that's being forced into someone's body and if this covid-19 vaccine will be mandatory I will have my guards up for sure. Although I refuse to be led by fear, I do have some worries about where this all is going, but thankfully it helps a lot to not follow the mainstream media sites and follow my own instinct. So far, so good.

Regarding the panic, I feel that most of the media are spreading panic instead of preventing them. Because if we all fear things, we are easy to be manipulated and do as we've been told by governments. And I've noticed that even if I'm listening with the thought in the back of my mind that they deliberately spread fear, I'm still not able to ignore those feelings 100%, so therefore I rather not check on the news too often. In the past weeks, I've only been checking on updates about restrictions to make sure I'm not breaking any laws.
