On Mary's New Look (D&D meta, ART)

Hello, Everyone!

This is the Art post that comes before the Q&A (which will be here soon, I promise!) šŸ˜Œ

Anyway, since that zombie munched off a piece of my dear Mary's neck, I've been thinking of different ways for her to cover that scar.

Here, you can see my process, as well as a friend's suggestion.

First, I thought about a scarf and I kinda liked it, but kept on trying to come up with a better idea. I made her with a barely noticeable and cute choker, but it didn't seem right. If Mary's scar was barely noticeable, it wouldn't have bothered as much.

So, I moved on from it, trying out a few other things which looked cute on a drawing but seemed like they'd be really uncomfortable to wear on a daily basis.

Then, my friend Antonia Doncheva (check her out - she made an awesome fanart of Mary's Patron!) had this idea of Mary wanting not only to cover the scar for aestethic purposes, but also to protect it from any further harm. So, she designed her with a gorget.

I tried to copy her idea in my style and I really liked it.

And so, this is what Mary will look like for a while - with a gorget when travelling or expecting a fight, and a scarf (black, to honour her parents' memory) when she's not fighting.

Hope you like my (and my friend's) designs! Mary's look is always evolving (that magically fast-growing hair of hers adds to it all, as well as the changing seasons), so you may soon expect more designs.

See you soon!
Take care and be well!

Episodes of Mary Windfiddle's story come out every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
(Also, here's a link to the Chapter Guide and the Glossary for the series. You're welcome!)

An important disclaimer: These are my notes from a D&D game turned into a narrative. All the worldbuilding and NPC encounters belong to our DM, and all the actions of the other main characters (Aurum and Bruno) belong to my co-players. My contribution to the story is only everything Mary-related (actions, reactions, inner thoughts), as well as the writing itself.
