Hello guys, my name is Joshua Jeremiah, I am a fashion designer, a fashion model, a fashion consultant, a pianist and a mobile photographer. Thank you @temisaren and @blacktarri for introducing me to this platform, I am super excited to be here on this platform cos it's an opportunity for me to escalate and expand exploiting it to increase my social media prowess and presence. So about me, I am a 6ft dark alpha male and a professional dress maker, I started learning the skill in 2017 and perfecting in 2019, I started with just make dresses and one of my biggest challenges was confidence and courage to make clothes for anyone who was not a member of my family because I was scared of ruining their dresses. I overcame that by building self confidence over improving my skill and I also ruined clothes, made mistakes and corrected them, that way I was able to find my feet. I started JJs collections in 2021, the name "JJ" was obviously coined from the first letter of my name and surname, so 2021 a few of my friends started addressing me as "JJs collections" that's what inspired the start up of the brand and we've made advancements ever since. I am currently working on an online event, still attached to the brand though it's called "the fashion Friday show", it's more like a reality show, it entails a whole lot of the insides and outs of the life of an average tailor in Nigeria, we'd host customer interview sessions, prank shows, business growth seminars with regards to the fashion business that's where I get to pour out my knowledge as a fashion consultant. I am also into fashion modeling tho I just started, I basically only model for my brand (JJs collections) right now, it has been an amazing and stressing experience even if I just started recently. I am also currently running this awareness thingy called "#Glorified_ankara" it's funny how the Ankara fabric in all its glory has been so underrated and undermined overtime and now many people think or assumes that the fabric is just for the poor or the not so rich persons, but the Ankara fabric signifies royalty and even if it was adopted by Africans, it didn't start here, it was formally known as the Dutch wax prints made by the Dutch for the Indonesian textile market but gained more interest by the west African people which made the Dutch focus more on the west Africans.
Sorry for digressing, about me, first of, I am a Nigerian e no easy and I hail from akwaibom state one of the states in the southern region of Nigeria. It is popularly known as the home of soups. It was created during the military regime of General IBRAHIM BADAMOSI BABANGIDA on the 23rd of October 1987 from Calabar state, its major language is ibibio, latitudes 4°32’N and 5°33’N and latitudes 7°25’E and 8°25’E and a population of five million people with it’s beautiful capital in uyo with about 500,000 occupants. In Akwaibom for subsistence the farm rice, cowpeas, corn (maize) and cassava and for the cash crops the produce palm oil and cocoa, the mineral resource includes lignite deposits and offshore oil fields and an area of 7,081 square km. whenever you are in town you could visit the world-class IBOM E-library or the museum of ethnography in oron or the 30,000 seat ultramodern sports stadium.
I am the second child and son of a family of six persons, two parents and three extra siblings, three guys and one girl child. I’m not so fluent with my native language (ibibio) so I speak majorly the english language and pidgin (Nigerian English) my favorite colors are BLACK AND BLUE, my zodiac sign is Libra, I have a very high taste for art and fashion, my hobbies are reading, making music, dress making and eating speaking of eating I did a little course on catering so yeah I am a good cook, my favorite meal is the AFANG soup and EBA native to the people of Akwaibom. I love open minded people and one thing I look out for in people before getting close to them is their level of sincerity, I love constructive criticism, I’m also a medical aspirant of the university of Calabar and I am an introvert, I love my space, I prefer being alone to being with people it’s not like I don’t hangout I do, I love fun and I have fun, but I have few friends, I listen way more than I speak, I am a very emotional human. I love travelling, I consider it as an activity that would boost my knowledge of people, cultures and places, though I’ve not had the opportunity to travel that much.
As a person I have some achievable goals, aside from the materialistic achievements like houses, cars and all, I want to travel to Europe and Asia and Australia and just see places and countries in them, I also want to travel to Israel I think I have a special connection to that country, I’d also love to build an orphanage, I have this thing for children I just love being around children and also a hospital to take care of the health needs of the poor and less privileged. I’ll also love to invest heavily in the agricultural sector, Nigeria is blessed with vast lands so investing in agriculture will be very productive and will really reduce the amount of unemployment and as a dress making brand, my major goal is global recognition and to work with top modeling agencies. For facts I have plans for almost all sectors like the agricultural, the textile, the health, the educational even the entertainment sector, speaking of the entertainment sector I play the piano, and I’ve had opportunities to play at different concerts in Rivers State, Abia state, Akwaibom state and Delta state. It wasn’t really easy at the early stages of my career as a pianist for facts nothing is really easy at it’s early stages, I had stage fright so I didn’t really perform that much and I always cancelled out events when I had the opportunity to because if my stage fright, but I was able to surmount that too over time, I currently play for a gospel artiste MICHAEL RICH here in portharcourt, I have played lines in the production of some great songs too, I hope to one day own a world-class music studio.
My aim for joining this platform is to make money, connect with people and grow financially, I am open to suggestions and creative criticism, I’d love to make friends too and I’ll appreciate all help I can get and efforts for my growth and improvement. I reside in portharcourt in Rivers State a very lively city home to diverse people from different ethnic backgrounds, it’s currently governed by His Excellency Governor Nyesom wike, with so many tourist attractions in the state like the Portharcourt Pleasure Park, Portharcourt Zoo, The portharcourt polo club, the I cinema, the Despond old text library and lots of others like I said the state is filled with fun and life , so whenever you’re in town or feel like it just hit me up and I’ll be your personal tour guide round the great city of portharcourt.
