Previously on Freddy The Flea:

DaFlea took Fria to an alternative entrance into The Clump of Death. She learned that he worked for the FIA (Flea Intelligence Agency) and was willing to help her find Freddy. He handed her a map to guide her in case something went awry and they prepared to enter where two Ticks were standing guard.

Part 13:

As Fria and DaFlea made their way towards the entrance, he consistently shoved her.

"Move it Flea!"

When they reached the entrance, the Ticks stopped them.

"Halt!" shouted the one, "What is your business?"

"I need to get this Flea to Lord Tick immediately. He sent an urgent request for an extra Flea to be sent to his chamber."

"We haven't received any such command," replied the other Tick.

"Besides, why aren't you using the main entrance?" asked the first one.

DaFlea knew he'll be receiving such objections. His plan was working. By this time, he'd managed to edge close enough to the two.

"Well," said DaFlea, before taking a big swig from his bottle.

Then he sprayed the one Tick in the face, and before the other one could respond, DaFlea flung the bottle towards his head at lightning speed, landing it square in between his eyes. The Tick had hardly hit the ground when DaFlea swept the other one's legs out from under him. With a thud, the Tick fell to the ground on his stomach. DaFlea pounced on him like a cat on its prey. He had him in a rear-naked chokehold, and it only took a few seconds before the Tick passed out.

Fria stood there with her jaw to the floor. She couldn't believe what she'd just seen. It all happened so fast.

"What was that?" she asked, as DaFlea got ready to tie the two up.

DaFlea carried on about his business without uttering a word. Once they were both secured and tied to a clump of hair, he spoke.

“That should do it,” he said, looking at his handy work.

The two were propped up in a standing position. Their arms were tied behind their backs, mouths covered and it looked as if they were just there standing guard. The two Ticks started regaining their senses and realized the predicament they were in. DaFlea did such a good job of it that they could move slightly sideways and forward, yet not enough to do anything else.

“That looks natural enough,” DaFlea said, with a sly grin, “Let’s go. We have about 4 hours before the next shift arrives.”

With that, the two started making their way into The Clump of Death.

The entrance was dark, but as soon as they went deeper, streaks of light lit up the tunnel.

Fria looked up in amazement. It seemed unreal that such a big clump of hair could be so well lit inside.

“They used slaves to carve their way through,” said DaFlea, realizing Fria’s reaction.

“It takes one Flea hours to cut through a single hair.”

Fria looked at DaFlea. She could see he felt emotional about it, even though he maintained his composure.

“They cut it in such a way that no one can get through. It’s wide enough to let the light in, yet too narrow to let anyone pass. It took them months to cut through a single opening.”

Fria looked back up at one of the slivers of light shining through.

“To this day, there are still many skeletons of slaves stuck up there.”

Fria gasped. Suddenly, she noticed some skeletons shimmering in the light, high up in between the hair.

“Come, we need to move.”

As the pair maneuvered through the tunnels, Fria noticed that some were darker than others. It had a cold feeling about it, even those glowing in the light.

“This place gives me the creeps,” she said.

“That it should,” DaFlea abruptly responded.

Fria realized DaFlea hadn’t once asked for the map, “How do you manage your way through here?”

DaFlea looked around at her quickly. His gaze was sharp and intense, before relaxing, “That is a story for another day, Fria. Right now, we need to have our wits about us. These tunnels are filled with darkness.”

As they carried along, down a few more tunnels and turns, DaFlea indicated that they were close. He pointed towards a large-looking chamber in the distance.

“Come, we need to go this way,” he said as he pulled Fria down another dark, narrow path to the left.

At the end of the short tunnel, DaFlea paused and asked Fria for the map again.

“Here,” he pointed, “This is where we are. If anything goes wrong, make sure you get back here and follow this path.

DaFlea guided Fria along a long line that didn’t seem to end up at either of the entrances.

“I don’t understand. It doesn’t go anywhere.”

“Trust me. Just follow that path. It will get you and your friend out safely.”

“Next, I need to explain to you how this is going to work.”
