Monkey See, Monkey Do

It's been a rough fortnight on the POBlantic! It has been illuminating in many ways.

The platform started to take on water during the Outrageous Word of the Week, and as much as I'd like to claim that was my intention, I cannot.

It wasn't until later in the Outrageous week that I realised how much of an influence and impact the word for the week has on the platforms emotional stability.

Let's reflect back on the previous words and see how much the opportunities from the WOTW have helped with my thinking.

As an outcome of the past ten-eleven weeks, I've learned lessons that provide me with strength when I need it through the knowledge and wisdom I've acquired from many points of view across the platform.

Authenticity

Our first word, and in my opinion, the most important word to remember here on Proof Of Brain.

We engage with real people honestly, learn more from genuine interactions, and reward those who share themselves openly and without fear. I've shared parts of my life candidly, connected with those around me, and built relationships out of curiosity and respect.

Be free to express yourself honestly.

(couldn't miss the opportunity to share one of my favourite tracks)

Atmosphere

We have all seen the effects that the atmosphere has on the platform. The ability to alter this differs from person to person, although the fact remains that we all have the power to flip the script within ourselves at a moments notice.

I've had the opportunity to truly mess with the atmosphere of the platform, and it hasn't been without risk. My only saving grace is that I know my authentic self wants the platform to succeed without a shadow of a doubt. I want to continue to help others, even if some may not realise it.

Persistence

This word digs deep while I write this. With the commotion and doubts floating around in the community in the present, it would be easy to step out and throw in the towel. To accept the narratives being spun to discredit. Fortunately, there is more work to be done and fun to be had.

It's a shame to see others buckle under the doubts and allow their point of view to be swayed by some who have demonstrated very little care for the overall community, but this is how life is. It's given me insights into some motivations, and it has affected how I'll support some in the future.

Paradox

Contradictions and hypocrisies. Something we're all too familiar with here. We're all victim to them at one point or another; giving or receiving.

As human beings, we slip up, fall down, and get back up. If you are being honest with yourself and striding forward on the beaten path, you'll understand that it's all part and parcel of life. I have learned that it's the reactions that we have to witness; how situations are handled determine character and trust.

Power

Hot topic? It's always a hot topic. We're all-powerful beings in our own right, so it makes sense that power will be translated into almost everything we do.

I've been called irresponsible a couple of times lately (even by myself). I can't say I disagree, but at least I was careless with good reason. I've found myself in this position, and it has been a mixing pot of fun, challenge, and risk. An incredible learning opportunity. It's shown me that there is more to this game than just the amount of tokens you can accumulate, no matter how many people want to say: "Just admit it, we're all here for the money".

The narrow-minded will arrive at the answer one day.

Bizarre

I love this word. It reminds me that there is a spectrum within so many things; oh, how fragile our own certainties are. We need the bizarre and strange to understand ourselves better. Experimenting gives us a vibrant outlook and challenges us to explore the parts of our minds behind closed doors.

Being comfortable is a luxury, something that is earned over time.

Equanimity

I've said this word about a dozen times over the past fortnight to myself. It's been critical when grounding myself and "zooming out" from uncertain situations. "Yin and Yang" was something we didn't see during this week, but it's something I've tied to equanimity during my own self-reflection.

Understanding that it is bad within the good, and vice versa, has given me the capacity to tolerate while remaining quizzical in even the most unusual and disconcerting scenarios.

Ego

This word opened the floodgates. It was like the light switch clicked on and emotion appeared in front of my eyes. For myself, it provided the insight that the ego makes you comfortable; it protects you from risk and disapproval.

It's dangerous to be vulnerable. It takes intelligence to protect yourself while exercising your raw self. This becomes all the more difficult when you are under a microscope. With that being said, if we take what was mentioned during the authentic section and apply it here, then we all need to check our egos out every now and then so that we can reveal our true colours.

Outrageous

The fun one...

I didn't realise how significant this week would be when I was making the featured graphic. You know, the funky looking brain that has colours on the darker side of the spectrum.

The drama and intensity of the outrageous week gave me a look into the two sides of the morality coin. Perspective matters when determining what side of the coin is witnessed, but we should try to objectively assess this based on the presented information. Just remember that deciding what "bad" or "good" is, isn't always the same as determining what is "black" or "white".

Blank

Thinking for yourself. Quite the assignment for some. I'm not a pro at it either; heck, I've been a useful idiot once or twice (maybe I am right now, and I don't even realise it?).

Step away from the commonly held opinion and dare to be different once in a while.

People who concern themselves with the tedious aspects of the tribe, like the current price and the worries of drama, will, in turn, become boring. Originality is very scattered here; give yourselves a shake.

As a segway into better things, I've decided that instead of selecting the word for next week myself, I will put it up for a vote on this post. My initial choice was going to be the word "Tranquillity", but after thinking about it for a hot minute, I don't believe we are there yet.

Have a little think and drop your suggestion as a single word comment below. The word with the most votes (not stake based, just drop a 1% vote) will be used for the upcoming week, starting 27/06/21.

Don't forget to write your post for this week's POB Word of the Week!

There is ? POB (delegations) up for grabs.

We're due an update, anyone interested, ping me a message on discord.
