My time tends to get filled up super quickly these days, so I am not even trying to go scouting out new murals. However, sometimes it all happens the other way, and the murals come to. Quite literally. Just the other day I noticed a brand new painting on a wall right around where I live. So of course I took a pic, and I'm happy to use it as my entry post for this week's CCC Street Art Contest.
What at first appears to be a bunch of colorful abstractions, turn out to be a stylized lettering at closer look. What could it be? The bones sure look like an X, and the C and N are also obvious letters. And the rest? Well, if the triangle is an A, and the ear of corn in I, then we can pretty much guess the rest: MEXICAN@, where the final @ could be either seen as an A or and O. This is a typical way in Spanish to make an adjective gender neutral.
The rest of the image features a sun and a moon, as well as those swirly clouds above the lettering, symbols in pre-colombian writing symbolizing speech. As for the artist, his tag is clearly visible in the top right-hand corner. But before I attempt posting a link, you may want to decipher it for yourselves. It took me long enough to recognize the main word in the image.
