Phyllis sat in a kind of void which seemed to belong to neither time nor space; it was dark, it was forgotten, it was, to be quite clear, the cupboard under the stairs. Small slits of light would sometimes slide through the gaps in the door, but there was never any reprieve from the solitude and disregard of the rest of the family. -@lordtimoty

Maria's Garden

In all her 32 years, Maria had no friends. Even at the orphanage she had been alone and had studied hard enough to escape that world. She had seen no need for any relationship with humans and the thought of having a pet freaked her out. All she was good at was gardening and maybe work. She was distraught. - @piratethanos

Rush In

The cigarette seemed to be in a hurry or maybe it was late for its appointment with the wind, I threw it to the side of the road while the sun was already caressing the horizon and its rays were crashing on distant clouds that invited me to continue. From time to time I turned back, hoping that some traveler would coincide with me on the road. -@joalheal

The Innocent Artists

When the king and queen slept on the first bedsheet that night, their surprise knew no bounds. They felt a different season as they slept on the bedsheet. It was summer on the Queen’s side, and she was sweating. There was a view of winter on the king’s side, and his teeth started grinding. The king, with magical powers, knew that this was the miracle of the scenes embroidered on the bedsheet. -@ray2t

The Land of the Forgotten

I drifted into a short sleep only to be awoken by footsteps and whispers. I felt chill down to my bones. I cleared my eyes to view clearly and I saw three forms. They moved so quickly and appeared to be carrying something. I looked closely and recognized the goat. The same one that was sacrificed earlier by the elders -@kei2

Two Friends, One Heart

I look at the friend I had made over three years ago. Like I said, we're polar opposites. While she's active and social, I'm a couch potato and obnoxious. She has smooth, long silky hair while I'm left with a tangled barbwire that seems to enjoy punishing me. I wear large, thick lensed glasses because of poor eyesight, but she's just perfect with those sea greens. -@deraaa

To Blow in a Storm

The day was blustery, a determined breeze whipped the sand into a frenzied dance. The beach was a forlorn stretch; not a soul in sight; at least as far as visibility would allow the eye to see, anyway. The waves rolled to shore in a deafening white-foamed crescendo. Even out to sea the water was gray and turbulent, a reflection of the dirty day. -@itsostylish
