Previously on Freddy The Flea:

Ssstower took Fria and Freddy to the correct passage, leading them towards The Chamber. They reached a small opening, looking directly down into The Chamber. Fria couldn’t see Freddy amongst the Fleas in the cells, and learnt that DaFlea’s partner was Bruce Flea, a legendary and talented performer.

Part 19:

Fria was still in shock after learning Bruce Flea was his partner. She had so many questions, but the thought of not seeing Freddy down there weighed at the forefront of her mind, as she kept peeking through the opening.

“I still don’t see him,” Fria said, “What if something happened to him?”

“I’m sure he’ll be okay,” DaFlea said, peeking in from the other side.

“You don’t know that.”

DaFlea looked at her, the concern clearly visible on her face. He didn’t know what to say. Fria was right. He didn’t know that for certain. DaFlea took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.

“Fria, you’re right. I don’t know that. All I do know is that Freddy has someone very special doing everything she can to get to him. That must mean something.”

Fria was mulling his words over in her mind a little. What DaFlea told her somehow managed to make her feel a bit more at ease.

“Thank you, DaFlea.”

DaFlea managed a little smile, before taking another peek through the opening. He’d secured a long hair earlier and all that was left was to wait for the shift change. Then, he’d throw it through the opening, slide down, approach the Ticks on guard, and knock them out so he can release the prisoners. He still had his Roughneck Flea coat on, so he would blend in perfectly. After he’d pulled the lever, then Fria could come down safely.

It wasn’t long after when a big, burly looking Flea approached the entrance.

“Next shift!” he shouted.

As Fria looked towards the entrance, she immediately recognized him. It was the same Flea that had led the party that had captured Freddy.

“I know him. He’s the one that caught Freddy.”

As Fria looked back at DaFlea, she could see he was scowling at him.

“Yes, I know him too. His name is Z. He’s the captain of the Roughneck Fleas.”

DaFlea despised Captain Z. When he was younger, he was the one that led the Roughneck’s aboard the cat they were on. They were a peaceful community, then they destroyed it all by enslaving them. DaFlea’s entire family was taken. His mother, father, and sister. He was one of a handful that managed to escape. To this day, he hasn’t seen or heard from them and with so many Fleas not making it during the height of slavery, he had little hope left.

When the last of the Roughnecks passed below DaFlea, he quickly threw the hair through the opening, and slid down. He made sure to stay a few paces behind the last of the crew.

As the last of them exited, and headed down a path to the left, DaFlea kept his head down, slowly edging towards the Ticks.

“Well come on now, get a move on!”

DaFlea simply maintained his leisurely pace.

“What’s wrong with you today, fella?” asked the other, “Did you drop something or what?”

The gap was close enough now for DaFlea to strike and the Tick had just handed him a golden opportunity.

“Yes, I have. It’s right there by your feet.”

The two looked down at the same time, then DaFlea knocked the one to the left with a devastating uppercut. Before he plopped to the floor like a sack of beans, Da Flea lunged sideways, smashing his elbow right into the jaw of the other. As he went stumbling, DaFlea jumped, spun around, and kicked him flat on his face. He looked at the two Ticks, both completely incapacitated, before attempting the lever. He could hear the prisoners mumbling, which was great. They didn’t want to arouse any suspicion, so everyone was instructed beforehand to keep quiet.

As DaFlea tugged at the lever, it was stuck. He attempted a few more tugs, yet nothing.

As Fria made her way towards him, she could see he was getting frustrated. No matter how much he tugged or pulled, the lever didn’t budge. Fria jumped in and the two tried together, yet nothing.

“What the heck is wrong with this thing,” said DaFlea, as he tried to pull once more with all his might.

“Wait, stop,” Fria said as she noticed a slit at the top.

“Who usually pulls the lever?”

“The Ticks.”

Fria looked over at one of the Ticks claws, “That’s it. We need one of their claws,” she exclaimed excitedly.

When she pointed out the slit on the lever, DaFlea realized what she was talking about.

They pulled one of the Ticks over, stuck his hand on the lever, and his hooks on his claw slipped perfectly into the slot.

Fria pulled the lever as DaFlea held the claw in place, and the lever pulled down comfortably.

All the cell gates opened simultaneously, releasing the Fleas.

“Quick, go, go, go!” said DaFlea as they came running past, heading right down the path.

Fria kept a lookout for Freddy, but he was nowhere to be seen.

As the last of the Fleas came plundering past them, it was only Bruce Flea left.

“Good job, old friend,” Bruce said, as they grabbed each other by the forearm.

Fria still looked about, “No, no, no. Where’s Freddy?”

Bruce Flea looked at Fria, then back at DaFlea.

“Who’s your friend?”

“Bruce, this is Fria.”

“Hi Fria,” Bruce said as he approached her.

“Did you just say Freddy?”

“Yes, yes, did you see him?”

“Are you talking about Freddy The Flea?”

“Yes, I am. Where is he?”

Bruce looked half back at DaFlea, then took Fria by the shoulders.

“I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but Freddy has already been sent to The Clump of Death.”
