Ding Dong! Halloween Donuts Have Arrived!
Yes my Krispy Skreme friends, it's that time when Krispy Kreme release their Halloween Donuts. I got them in sooner rather than later as I didn't want to miss out on them. The first one I went for was the Jaco O Lantern. Now this one has been around practically every Halloween, so I wanted to see if it was still as good as last time. Here goes!!

I'm loving the bright orange icing on the donut and that Jack o Lantern shape. The black spooky eyes and smile too make this donut a proper character of Halloween... that was until I got to taste it. The donut was fat and heavy and I was expecting it to be filled with lots of chocolate orange filling. There was a lot of filling but it was nowhere near orangey. There was hardly any orange taste in it. What I did get was a weird chocolate taste. It could almost have been flavoured with some cheap, artificial orange flavouring. It wasn't straight up chocolate. It just tasted odd and fake. I thought maybe the icing might have orange flavour in that, but it did not. I was very disappointed.
Considering I have had this donut many times over the years, I knew what I was in for. They have definitely changed the recipe. Krispy Kreme have been pretty good with their fruit flavours lately like the Passion Fruit and The Raspberry Lemonade. This one was just horrible and fake. Nothing orangey about it. I wouldn't go for this one again. If they bring it out next year I'm hoping it goes back to same recipe as the orange Jack o Lanterns. They were delicious. This one... nope, just nope.
