This is the last donut that Krispy Kreme brought out at the beginning of this year. I was really hoping Krispy Kreme were going to do an apple one. I absolutely loved their Apple Crumble that came out in 2020. Two years I've waited!! Two years!! Hopefully this is going to be just as delicious and memorable as the Apple Crumble. The crumb on top of this donut looks rather fine and dusty. I thought the crumb would be a bit more chunkier to make it look like crumble. The sweetness and the spice of the cinnamon crumb smelled warming. I was looking forward to see what the inside of this donut was going to be like. So I took my bite and there it was... the apple and custard filling. It was nice to see chunky apple pieces and I loved the apple 'Jam' too. There was a good amount of custard too. The flavours really worked well together and in fact the crumb was much better than expected. Although the crumb looked fine, it did have a bite to it. I would describe it as a caramelised biscuit and cinnamon crumb. It was so very good and who would believe this was vegan too!
This donut isn't as fancy looking as some of their other ones, but this one is by far one of the best I've ever had. I really, really LOVED the Apple Crumble one. This one is just as good. I wouldn't say better, but they are on a par with each other. It was a lovely touch having the custard in the middle with the apple. I really enjoyed the cinnamon crumb too. Everything about this donut was amazing! I've actually treated myself to a couple more since I had my first one. I'd highly recommend this one.
