Great to see a donut with the Union Jack. Makes me proud to be British. I was surprised to see that Krispy Kreme decided to fill this one with cherry. I have had a few cherry flavoured donuts from Krispy Kreme and I hate to sat it... but none of them taste right. The ones before have had a cherry jam filling and from memory with kreme too... but don't quote me on that. I was praying this one was going to be different. I took a bite and I eventually got to the cherry kreme. It was a lilac / light purple colour which I guess was to match the colour of the Jubilee, however the taste. There was a cherry taste but again, it didn't feel like it belonged in a donut. It reminded me of the taste of the cherry salts you drink when you are dehydrated and that isn't a good thing. The only thing that was good about the taste was the icing on top. The filling was light and fluffy so the texture was nice, but the taste. Just no!!
Really surprised of the cherry choice of flavour. I don't know why they didn't choose something like a creamy white chocolate filling or a lemon filling. Really do not like cherry in a donut. I've had enough now to realise I don't like them. Every. Single. One I've detested.
Sorry Krispy Kreme. No celebration for this one.
